Samuel Achieves BREEAM 'Excellent' and an A++++ Energy Label — the Highest Score in Amsterdam's City Centre

Samuel’s A++++ energy label was achieved by minimizing energy demand while maximizing the use of sustainable energy-generating measures, including solar panels, a heat pump, heat recovery installations, and a water buffer system. Together, these measures ensure that 71% of the building’s energy needs come from renewable sources, resulting in an 83% reduction in yearly CO2 emissions.
Beyond energy performance, DME set out to create real estate that adds tangible value to the people who use it. BREEAM In Use assesses a building’s integral sustainability, and Samuel’s design reflects that ambition throughout: outdoor relaxation areas, lighting and ventilation that can be adjusted to personal needs, and a healthy indoor climate all contribute to an optimized experience for its occupants. Water-saving fixtures, waste separation, a garden planted with native species, and a nesting box further reduce the building’s environmental footprint. DME Amsterdam is proud that Samuel’s tenant, Birkenstock, shares this ambition to reduce ESG impact — creating a monument that is theirs to dream and do.
